Bratislava is considered as the youngest capital of the world as it became that only in 1993. The city has very successful geographical arrangement as borders on the states of Austria and Hungary. The old city – the central sight of Bratislava
“Tourist” in Bratislava call various museums, locks, theaters, palaces, churches and even certain districts of the city. One of the last is the Old city – the central administrative part of the capital of Slovakia. Here still ancient buildings which represent history of all country remained. The design of sight represents narrow small streets and the wide areas which here only two: Gnezdoslavova and Main. The downtown, the Bratislava Hail, is on the foothills of the Carpathians which tower from the West from the Old city.

Cathedral of St. Martin – one of the most impressive cathedrals of Bratislava
Quite recently there took place crownings Hungarian kings — the crown at the top of a spike and numerous records of magazines of a cathedral testifies to it. The last similar record is Ferdinand II Habsburg’s crowning Goodhearted. The sight is the biggest in Bratislava and is visible from many corners of the city. The interesting exterior and a successful arrangement made Saint Martin’s cathedral one of the most visited places of the city.
The Slovak national theater – historical heritage of Bratislava
The Slovak national theater is in the Old city and is the oldest cultural structure of Slovakia. The first building of theater was built in 1886 on the project of the Austrian architects Felner and Helner. They were the main ideological initiators of this sight. Today it present itself a huge structure in the Neorenaissance style and is the main pride of Bratislava. Before an entrance to the main building there is one more architectural property – the first decorative Ganymede fountain. Except representations interiors of theater will be interesting to the tourist. Korridora and halls decorate pictures of the famous artist Lyuttgendorfa-Leynburga and a fresco of the master Spanyik.
Initially in theater plays only in Czech were put, but over time it became National. The favourite Slovak opera “Bank Bang” of Erkel was the first statement. Today in theater both opera singers, and ballet dancers, and drama actors act. In the auditorium 1700 people, in repertoire of theater performances of the Slovak authors, and also modern European playwrights are located.
The presidential palace in Bratislava
The presidential palace — one of the most favourite tourist places of the city. For the centuries-old history the palace replaced several owners and names. One owners used it for magnificent festivities of the aristocracy, others carefully stored it as the residence. Now the palace is country representation of the president of Slovakia, however is completely open for visitors. Any can walk corridors, look at bedrooms and magnificent guest halls.
One more interesting feature is solemn changing of the guard of guardsmen — invariable guards of this sight.
New Bridge – a futuristic look of Bratislava
It is necessary to distinguish New Bridge from modern sights. It was constructed only in 1972, but in the first years received special popularity. The matter is that it was one of the first futuristic decisions in Bratislava. Unusual or even essentially new design deserved attention of tourists. Shortly the concept of the bridge can be submitted so: from one inclined support ropes which support a metal cloth disperse in different directions. Here four lanes, and also paths for cyclists and pedestrians were placed.
The bridge is not established to the bed of the Danube River as it is fixed ashore and it is also its distinctive feature from the majority of bridges in Bratislava. At the height of 85 meters from an observation deck it is possible to see the Bratislava Hail – one more interesting sight of Bratislava. Also from here the fine panorama on the Old city and vicinities opens.
Bratislava became the capital of Slovakia when it separated from the Czech Republic and became the independent country. It continues to please tourists with the numerous sights.
