In Seoul, the Festival of Lotus Lanterns

From 28 to 30 April in Seoul will be one of the most beautiful city holidays – the Festival of Lotus Lanterns. The main events of the festival will unfold near the temple of Jogyesa.

On April 28, in the Buddhist temples Jogyesa and Bongeunsa, as well as in the park along the Cheonggyecheon stream, the exhibition of traditional Korean paper lanterns will open.

The next day at 19:00 the main event of the festival will begin – a large parade of lotus lanterns. A lot of tourists will gather on the streets to see the magnificent spectacle. A bright procession passes from the gate of Dongdaemun to the Buddhist temple of Choges.

According to the National Tourism Organization of Korea, on April 30, festival guests will be offered a variety of master classes, folk games and performances by folk music ensembles, tasting the dishes of the temple kitchen and much more.
