The long-awaited opening: Charlie Chaplin museum in Switzerland. On April 17, in the former home of Charlie Chaplin, above Lake Geneva near the Swiss town of Vev? to open the King Museum of silent films – Chaplin’s World. The brilliant comedian, born in London, has spent the last 25 years of his life in a family house Le Manoir de Ban ( “Manor exile”).
In the house and in the adjoining large park located exhibition devoted to the personal life of Chaplin, and the neighborhood in the new building will feature exhibits on his work. According to the Tourist Office in Switzerland, museum visitors will see Chaplin personal belongings, photographs, manuscripts and materials from the family archives, introducing the different periods of his biography, posters with footage from movies, wax figures of his characters, scenery and cult film directed. The museum complex also includes the installation and cinema, which will show films of Chaplin.
The idea of creation of Charlie Chaplin museum in Switzerland was developed more than 15 years. For the realization of this project, 50 million Swiss francs was spent (about 46 million euros). Total exhibition area of the museum occupied 3200 square meters.
